저희는 금요일에 수업이 끝난 후에 지난주의 한국 생활과 활동들에 대해서 얘기했습니다. 총 5개의 질문에 대해서 얘기를 나누었습니다.

1. 지난 토요일에 DMZ 간 게 어땠습니까?
2. 지난 주의 낯선 사람과 동영상 찍는 숙제는 어땠습니까?
3. 수요일에 선거때문에 휴일이 있었습니다. 한국 선거와 미국 선거를 비교 하면 무슨 차이가 있습니까?
4. 지난 주에 다른 재미있은 일이 있었습니까?

 

1. 대부분은 학생들은 DMZ에서 돌아올 때 피곤해 했지만 거기 있는 동안에는 한국 역사에 대해서 많은 것을 배웠다고 했습니다. 가기 전에는DMZ에 군인들이 많이 있을 거라고 생각했는데 사실상 많지 않아서 놀랐습니다. 터널 속에서 기차를 탄 게 학생들 사이에서 가장 인기가 많았습니다.
2. 지난 주에 낯선 사람과 10분 동영상 찍는 숙제가 있어서 학생들이 다양한 시나리오들의 동영상을 만들었습니다. 예를 들면, 커피숍이나 음식점에서 주문도 하고, 쇼핑도 하고 경희대에 돌아다니는 사람들과 얘기도 나누었습니다. 한국인들은 낯선 사람과의 동영상 촬영이 싫은 것 같아서 찍기 전에 허락을 받고 촬영을 이어갔습니다.
3. 수요일에 선거때문에 휴일이 있었습니다. 한국 선거와 미국 선거 사이에 차이가 많은 것 같습니다. 한국에서는 선거 운동이 너무 재미있어 보였습니다. 미국보다 한국 선거 운동에는 참가자들이 많이 있는 것 같습니다. 지하철 입구에서도 후보자의 소개 카드를 나누어 주는 사람들이 있었습니다. 텔레비전 화면과 음악이 있는 선거 유세 차량들이 도시에서 매일 돌아다녔습니다. 그리고 한국에서는 시민에게 투표하는 걸 권장하려고 특별한 휴일이 있는데 미국에서는 이런 날이 별로 없습니다. 또한 게비씨는 홈스테이 가족과 함께 투표 하는 곳에 갔습니다.
4. 학생들이 한국 노래방을 너무 좋아해서 자유 시간에 노래방에 자주 간거 같습니다. 한국에서는 볼링이 미국과 비교하면 좀 싼 편이어서 볼링도 쳤습니다. 그리고 몇몇 학생들은 등산도 했습니다. 고속 터미널에 있는 가게들이 값이 싸다는 소문을 듣고 학생들이 그 곳도 가 봤습니다. 커타씨는 One Million 댄스 스튜디오에 갔는데 너무 좋아하는 댄서를 만났습니다. 같이 사진도 찍고 사인도 받고 댄스 수업도 들었습니다. 커타씨가 정말 기쁘다고 했습니다.

 

After the fourth week, we had our fourth week discussion about our life and experience so far. We talked about 4 questions as followed:

1. How do we feel about last Saturday’s DMZ trip?
2. How was last week’s video recording homework with strangers?
3. There was a national holiday on Wednesday because of the election. How do we feel about the difference between Korean and American election?
4. Anything interesting happened in last week?

 

1. Most of the students feel tired after the trip but they learned a lot about Korean history. Before they went they thought there was going to be a lot more soldiers, but it turned out to be not that many. The last tunnel trip was the most interesting part of the trip. Overall, students expected more than they actually saw.
2. For last week’s video recording homework, students came up with different ways of doing it. For example, some people recorded coffee shop/restaurant ordering, shopping or walking around to talk to random students. It seems that Korean do not like to show up in strangers’ video which made the recording homework a little bit hard to do.
3. There are lots of differences between Korean and American election. Korean election seems very interesting. First of all, there are more participants in the election in Korean than in America. People distribute candidate promotion card at subway station. And there are cars going around the city with television and music to promote their candidates. Secondly, in order to encourage more citizens to take part in the election, Korean sets a special holiday for that, while American does not have such day. Gebby went to the election voting place with his host family.
4. Students like Korean Karaoke a lot so they went a lot during their leisure time. Moreover, compared to the States, Korean’s bowling is cheaper so students like to go a lot too. Some students went to climb mountains with their host families or language partners. It is said that express but terminal sells cheap and good stuff so students went and checked out this week too. Kota went to One Million Dance studio and met his favorite dancer. He took photo with the dancer and got a signature from him. He also took a dancing class there.
