저희는 월요일에 문화 수업을 들었어요. 이번 문화 수업에 한국 전통 놀이 재미있게 배웠어요.

먼저 저희는 제기차기를 했어요. 제기차기는 제기를 들고 발로 차는 놀이예요. 땅에 떨어뜨리지 않고 제일 많이 찬 사람이 승리해요. 우리 중에 6명 학생들이 2팀로 나누고 제기차기 경기를 해 봤어요. 게비 씨가 다른 사람들 보다 더 잘 해서 게비의 팀이 이겼어요.

두 번째 게임이 윷놀이였어요. 욫놀이는 4개의 나무 막 대를 던 져서 말을 옮기는 게임이에요. 1팀당 4개의말을 가지고 있고 그 말들이 모두 결승점을 통과하면 그 팀은 이겨요. 그 게임은 행운이 너무 중요할 것 같지만 말들을 옮기는 계획도 중요해요. 저희는 그 게임을 다 재미있게 했어요.

셋 번째 게임이 공기놀이였어요. 그 게임을 하려면 제일 먼저 5개의 공기를 던져야 돼요. 그 중에 1게를 공중에 던지고 남는 공기들을 하나씩 잡아요. 동시에 공중에 있는 공기도 잡아야 해요. 성공하면 2개씩 잡아요. 이때 손등에 있던 공기를 모두 잡지 않으면 점수를 얻을 수 없어요. 제가 해봤는데 그 게임은 정말 어렵더라고요. 잘 하고 싶으면 많은 연습이 필요해요.

마지막 게임이 딱지치기였어요. 그 게임을 할 때 딱지를 쳐서 상대편의 딱지를 뒤집으면 이겨요. 저희 모두 딱지들을 만들고 쳐 봤어요. 딱지가 더 두꺼우면 그 게임을 잘 할 거 같아요.

요새 사람들이 항상 핸드폰 게임에 집중하는데 그런 게임을 가끔 하면 기분이 좋아요.한국의 게임을 배우는 건 이번이 처음이었는데, 아주 재미있는 경험이었어요.

We took the cultural class on Sunday. This time we learned some interesting Korean traditional games.

Firstly we learned Jegichagi. Jegichagi is a game that the player drops the Jegi and kicks the Jegi with his/her foot every time the Jegi drops. The player needs to keep the Jegi from being dropped onto the ground and who kicks the Jegi the most times wins. 6 students practiced the game and were divided into 2 groups to compete with each other. Gebby managed to kick a lot more than all other people so his team wan the game.

The second game we played is Yoot. Yoot has 4 wood sticks thrown as a dice to move the 4 ‘horses’ in each team. Every team has 4 ‘horses’ to go. When all the ‘horses’ in the team are moved to final destination, the team wins. This game seems to require a lot of luck but actually the right strategy to move the ‘horses’ are also very important. We had really a good time in this game.

The third game is Gongginori. To play Gongginori, firstly we need to throw 5 Gonggi onto the ground. And then we pick one to throw it up to the air when we immediately grab another one on the floor. We do this until we grab all 5. Then we throw one and grab two at a time. And then we throw one and grab 3 at a time. Lastly we need to throw all 5 onto the back of our hand and flip our hand to throw all 5 in the air and grab them. This game is so hard that it requires tons of practice to do well.

The last game is slap match. To play this game, the player needs to flip the opponent’s scab with his/her scab. We all made our own scab and played the game together. We found that the thicker the scab is the easier to flip other people’s scabs.

Recently people always focus on playing games on their phones. If we are able to play real life games like we played today, it will be much more fun. This is our first time trying Korean games. It was a very interesting experience.
